Walk 26th August 2016 St Mary's Church - Sheepleas - Mountain Wood - NDW - Sheepleas viewpoint - CP

Start point:- TQ088526
Distance:- 12.89 km; 8.01 miles
Time taken :- 2 hours 36 minutes
Route taken:-
St Mary's Church CP - Sheepleas - Green Dene CP Mountain Wood - Drove Road - Gravelhill Gate - Netley Heath - Combe Lane - Woodcote Farm - Fullers Farm - Angel Clump - Viewpoint - CP

This walk was based upon one found in Fancy Free walks details can be found in previous post.

This route has the advantage of not crossing a busy "A" road to Guildford.

A quiet walk after leaving the car part at St Mary's church this walk travels via Green Dene CP picking up a small part of the Lovelace bridges trail, and after crossing the minor road the path is current verging on over grown but passable. And it leads to Mountain Wood, following previous walks. I believe this route to be better than the one in Fancy Free walks as after Fullers farm following a permissive path you will be rewarded with a view looking north to London and over to Woking which you miss if you walk via Dawes Dene. From the path walking to the road do not after the stile take the route to the right as this is a private road, follow the footpath join the minor road and walk to the right until you reach Sheepleas then on to the viewpoint which is being restricted due to tree growth.

Start point:- TQ141503
Distance:- 13.2 km; 8.2 miles
Time taken:- 2 hours 52 minutes
Route:-
Ranmore East (Denbies Hillside) NT CP - Dean Farm - Coombe Copse - St John's Church (Wotton) - Greensand Way - Wolvens Lane - Squire's Farm - Osier Plantation - Clay Copse - Pilgrims Way - CP

My route was based upon the walk from the 10th August 2016 and I want to include St Johns church (Wotton)
http://www.britainexpress.com/counties/surrey/churches/wotton.htm
just by making a short detour from part of the walk and to extend the walk south rather than turn North along Wolvens Lane.

At a field just north of Dean Farm, the footpath disappears as the farmer has ploughed the field and at the time of the walk had not identified the footpath again. TQ133493. So I walk across the field to the stile.

Walking south you will find chalky soils, clay and sands as well as some forestry work along areas to the left and right of Wolvens Lane. This cutting work will not hinder your walk and is well signposted locations.

The walk can be extended easily to Leith Hill
